Alexey Razumovsky: Elizabeth's secret husband

Who is Alexey Razumovsky? A Ukrainian shepherd, a chorister, a court bandurist and the husband of the Russian Empress. There are random figures in the story. The hero of this article is unique, because there was no one at the royal court who, with such a humble origin, would be alien to vain thoughts and love of glory.
The Palace Coup
On a cold November night in 1741, Tsarevna Elizabeth, the daughter of Peter, gathered the guards and staged a mutiny in the imperial residence. It was not difficult for her to seize power: Anna Leopoldovna was by no means a strong rival. After becoming Empress, Elizabeth, as was customary according to palace traditions, created a privileged connection. Alexey Razumovsky took a special place in her entourage at the beginning of her reign.
The former shepherd
In 1709, a boy was born in the Lemeshi farm, in the family of a "registered" Cossack. He would have lived his whole life in Little Russia if he hadn't discovered his wonderful abilities for teaching and singing from an early age. One of the royal courtiers, driving past the farm, heard an angelic voice coming from the church. This man admired the young singer so much that he took him with him to St. Petersburg. This boy was Alexey Razumovsky.
Peter's daughter saw the beautiful singer for the first time ten years before her rise to power. This meeting predetermined the fate of the former shepherd. The son of a simple Cossack became the beloved of the Empress. They haven't been apart for more than twenty years.
The nobleman and the Count
A native of the village of Lemeshi, over the years he has become a worthy owner of lands and serfs. Alexey Razumovsky, according to historical documents, represented during the reign of Elizabeth a magnificent nobleman, an imposing count. But, according to the biographers of this historical figure, despite the unheard-of fortune, he always remained a simple and good-natured man. Whether he was relaxing in the royal chambers, or spending time at the Empress's lavish celebrations, Alexey Razumovsky was unchanged. He always remained the same charming and unsophisticated Ukrainian, who loved his country beyond memory.
The secret wedding
Historical documents contain evidence of extraordinary love. Eyewitnesses of those years saw Elizabeth carefully buttoning Alexey Razumovsky's fur coat in a severe January frost. They remembered the day when the Empress changed the shirt of her sick lover. They witnessed a touching picture: Elizabeth and Alexey Razumovsky running towards the sea, holding hands tightly. The contemporaries of the "merry Empress" told their descendants a lot of amazing things. After all, rumors about this connection spread in waves across the country, stirring the minds of Russian and foreign gossips.
Did they have children together? There is no exact information about this. If there were children, they were most likely given to a wet nurse in infancy. And then she disappeared from her mother's sight forever. In those early days, there was no reverent attitude towards children.
Alexey Razumovsky is a man with whose name it is customary to associate the legend of "Princess Tarakanova". This woman turned up in 1770. She was an impostor, and although she claimed to be Elizabeth's daughter, she had nothing to do with the Empress or her favorite.
During his years of service, Alexey Razumovsky almost did not interfere in politics and did not take part in the struggle of the court parties. Only for his native Little Russia could the prince resolutely raise his voice. Elizabeth visited her lover's native land more than once and was familiar with all his relatives. Alexey Razumovsky died with the rank of field marshal in 1756. Les adeptes des jeux de hasard seront comblés par la magnificence du package d'accueil dédié au casino.
